Did you know that the air you breathe in your home is more harmful than the air you inhale on the city streets?
The use of ovens, gas cookers, deodorants and detergents is likely to increase the levels of carbon monoxide and other toxic gases harmful to human health, exceeding the limits set by the governments. It’s the University of Sheffield, England, to state it.
According to this study, to purify home air it is enough to have a green thumb and surround yourself with houseplants that will convert CO2 into oxygen, while removing harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde.
These houseplants are:
- Areca Palms, which convert CO2 into oxygen. You need 4 plants at shoulder level. Remember to clean their leaves every single day;
- Sansevieria, which is a bedroom-friendly plant, since it converts CO2 into oxygen during the night. You need 6 to 8 plants at hips level;
- Epipremnum, a very common plant which grows preferably in hydroponic crops, and is able to remove formaldehyde and other harmful chemicals.
The results of the study in which these types of plants were used show that house dwellers experienced less headaches and redness in the eyes, and blood oxygenation improved as well as their productivity at work.
More houseplants for everyone, then, as a way to purify home air and improve health.
